AA for Employers

It can be daunting dealing with an employee struggling with alcoholism.

Their drinking can harm themselves and others in the workplace. You will see declining standards of work, absenteeism, and health and safety risks.

If you’re concerned about a staff member or drinking culture at work, request a visit/talk from an AA Employment Liaison Officer: contact AA General Service Office in York (01904 644026).

How to help a problem drinker

Give them the AA helpline number: 0800 917 7650.

Or call the number while the employee is with you and hand them the phone.

The helpline is manned by AA members who have at least one year of sobriety. They will offer to arrange for a member to contact them to take them to a local meeting.
